Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NIV)
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”
John 15:13 (NIV)
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Friendships are a huge part of our lives. The people we spend time with can influence our choices, attitudes, and even our relationship with God. That’s why it is important to build strong, healthy friendships that encourage us and help us grow.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 shows us that we are stronger together. Good friends help us when we struggle, encourage us when we feel discouraged, and celebrate with us when things go well. God created us to live in community, not alone.
One great example of friendship in the Bible is the relationship between Ruth and Naomi. Ruth stayed loyal to Naomi during a difficult season and encouraged her through her actions and commitment. Their friendship shows us the importance of supporting and caring for others.

Jesus gives us the ultimate example of friendship in John 15:13. He showed the greatest love by giving His life for us. While most of us will never be asked to make that kind of sacrifice, we can show Christ-like friendship by putting others before ourselves, listening when they need help, and encouraging them to follow God.
When choosing friends, look for people who are honest, kind, respectful, and encouraging. Healthy friendships help you become the person God wants you to be. At the same time, be the kind of friend who encourages others, includes people who may feel left out, and sets a positive example through your words and actions.

Reflection
What qualities do you look for in a good friend? Are the people closest to you encouraging you to make wise choices? How can you be a better encourager to your friends this week?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gift of friendship. Help me choose friends who encourage me to follow You and make wise decisions. Teach me to be a loyal, caring, and positive influence on others. Give me the courage to encourage those around me and to show the same love that You have showed us , Amen.
