Speaker: Sia Kim Pu — The Greatest Gift
What’s the greatest gift you’ve ever received?
If you get a phone, it can eventually expire or break.
But the gift we have received through Jesus Christ—salvation—will never change. No one can steal it from you. That is the greatest gift in your life.
1. God Created You for a Purpose
- Genesis 1:26–27
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…’”
- “After our likeness” means we were created to share His love.
- God spoke everything else into existence, but when He created man, He came down, formed him from the dust, and breathed His breath into him. That’s how we became living beings.
- He made us with His own hands.
Analogy
If a fish is taken out of the water, it will die.
If a tree is pulled out of the ground, it will die.
In the same way, when humans are separated from God, we die spiritually.
With Adam and Eve, when they ate the fruit, they were still physically alive, but spiritually they were dead.
Death means being separated from God’s presence.
A fish is meant to live in water. A tree is meant to stay rooted in the ground. When they’re removed, they die.
Likewise, when we’re separated from God, we may still be physically alive, but spiritually we’re dead.
It’s like a zombie. A zombie looks alive, but isn’t truly alive. When we’re separated from God, we’re spiritually dead even though we’re physically alive.
Just as zombies only go around biting people, when we’re far from God, we naturally fall into sin and temptation.
The point is simple:
- Fish without water die.
- Humans without God die spiritually.
We all sin because we’re far from God.
God didn’t create humans because He was lonely. He created us because He wanted to share His love with us, bless us, and have a relationship with us.
What always pulls us away from God is sin.
2. Sin Broke Everything
Why do we go to school? To learn. If we only play around, we’ve missed the purpose.
Why do we go to church? To hear the Word of God. If we only play games and don’t listen, the purpose is broken.
Sin broke our purpose.
- Romans 3:23
The biggest problem is sin.
- Isaiah 59:2
Sin is the barrier between us and God.
Imagine standing on one mountain trying to jump to another. No matter how hard you try, you can’t make it because there’s no bridge.
That’s our spiritual life. No matter how hard we try, we can’t reach God on our own. Jesus is the bridge between us and God.
3. Jesus Is God’s Perfect Solution
Humans are never perfect.
The only One who could fill the gap between us and God is Jesus.
He became the bridge we needed so we could have a relationship with God.
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus carried all of our sins and was nailed to the cross on our behalf.
If there were no sin, we could have fellowship with God. But because sin entered the world, Jesus became the bridge between God and humanity.
There are many religions in the world. What makes our God different is that Jesus died and rose again three days later. Other religious leaders died, and their bodies remained in the grave.
Jesus didn’t stay dead.
4. The Resurrection Changed Everything
Our faith is different from every other religion.
Jesus took away our sins, carried them for us, died on the cross, and rose back to life.
No other god is like our God.
We gather together to worship Him because He is alive—not dead.
5. Salvation Is by Grace
It’s not about what you’ve done or how perfect you are.
Salvation is only by God’s grace.
- Ephesians 2:8–9
Through faith we receive salvation, not by our works.
If you believe, you will receive salvation. Through Jesus, you can cross the bridge and be with God.
6. How Do We Receive Salvation?
- Acts 16:31
Believe in the Lord Jesus and what He has done for you.
Believe that He went to the cross for you, that nails were driven through His hands, that a crown of thorns was placed on His head, and that He died for your sins.
Believe it, and you will be saved. That is the day you receive salvation.
7. What Happens When You Are Saved?
- 2 Corinthians 5:17
- Romans 8:1
- Romans 10:9
The demons and the devil know that Jesus is Lord, but they refuse to confess Him as Lord.
The Bible says that if you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and confess Him with your mouth, you will be saved.
