What You Let Stay

⁃ Romans 12:2

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Your mind is not neutral.

Not every thought that shows up belongs there. Some thoughts just passed through, others… you let it stay.

And what you let stay starts to shaped you.

————————————————————————

Psychology calls this a “thought pattern.”

The more you think a certain thought, the easier It becomes to think it again. Your brain literally builds pathways around repeated thinking. So a thought like “I’m not good enough,” doesn’t just stay a thought, it becomes familiar. Almost automatic.

That’s why some thoughts feel so strong. Not because they’re true, but because they’re repeated.

————————————————————————

In Romans 12:2, it says we are transformed by the renewing of our mind.

– Not ignoring our thoughts but to renew our thoughts.

To renew means to replace.

To break a thought pattern is not possible by to stop thinking but instead it’s to replace it with something stronger and something more consistent.

So when a negative thought comes, you overcome it with truth & don’t let it marinate. If you don’t choose what stays, repetition will.

So the next time when you encounter a thought, asked yourself:

• Is this actually true?

• Does this reflect what God says?

• Do I want this thought to shape my life?

You won’t control every single thoughts that enters but you can decide what to agree with.

Agreement gives power.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, help me become aware of what I’m thinking. Show me the patterns I’ve allowed to form. Give me the discernment to recognize what isn’t from you with your truth. Renew my mind on a daily, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
