God’s compassion for righteous people
📖Genesis 18:23-24
—Abraham asked God if he would destroyed the cities in Sodom and Gomorrah even if righteous people exists
📖Genesis 18:26-32
📖V.32 “Then he said, “Let my Lord not be angry, and I will speak one more time. Suppose ten are found there? ” He answered, “I will not destroy it on account of ten.””
— Here Abraham consecutively asking God to spare righteous people among the wicked people if there’s 50, 45, 40, 30, 20, or even 10
There’s actually 4 righteous people, not 10 (genesis 19:15)
—> Lot, his wife, and his 2 daughters
💡 Even though ten righteous people were not found, God did not spare the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, but did spare Lot and his family.
— God delayed the destruction of what Sodom deserved just to pull Lot’s family out of it.
— Although God proceeded to destroy the cities because the wickedness remained, He still answered Abraham’s heart prayer by saving the righteous. Lot and his family were delivered before judgment fell.
⭐️Abraham prayed for the righteous to be spared.
God judged the cities—but faithfully rescued those who belonged to Him.
He does not forget about you!
