What Are You Filled With?

‭‭📖 Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭45‬ ‭

“A good person produces good out of the good stored up in his heart. An evil person produces evil out of the evil stored up in his heart, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.”

Life has a way of squeezing us. Stress, conflict, disappointment, and unexpected trials apply pressure that reveals what’s really inside. Jesus reminds us that what comes out of us—our words, attitudes, and reactions—flows from what we’ve stored in our hearts.

Sponge analogy:

A sponge doesn’t create what comes out of it; it only releases what it has already absorbed. In the same way, you become what you take in. You soak up what’s around you, and that is what eventually pours out of you.

So the question isn’t just, “How do I handle pressure?” It’s, “What have I been absorbing?”

When life gets in the way and you’re squeezed, what comes out—peace or panic, kindness or anger, faith or fear? The overflow reveals the content.

Take a moment today to reflect:

What am I filling my heart with? God’s Word, prayer, gratitude, and truth—or worry, negativity, and distractions? Whatever you choose to absorb will shape what flows out of you when pressure comes.

🙏🏼 Prayer:

Father God, help me be mindful of what I take into my heart each day. Fill me with Your truth and light, so what pours out brings You glory. Amen.
