- Matthew 25:1-13
Jesus told the parable of the 10 virgins. They all had lamps and oil, and they were all waiting for the bridegroom.
But when he came, only 5 were ready.
The wise virgins had extra oil in their lamps.
The foolish ones didn’t — because they did not have the Holy Spirit with them.
When the bridegroom came at midnight, the foolish virgins realized their oil was not enough, because the Holy Spirit was not filling them daily.
This parable reminds us that many are called, but few are chosen. It’s not about who starts the race, but who stays ready.
We can’t borrow someone else’s oil. We need a personal relationship with God and the Holy Spirit every single day.
Prayer:
Lord, help me not to be one of those who run out of oil. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit every day. Teach me to stay ready, so when you come, I will be chosen. Amen.
