Speaker: Sia JK Kam — Plowing of the Heart

Plowing of the Heart

Plowing of the heart means breaking up the hard and unyielding areas of our inner self, such as pride, sin, and bitterness, so that our hearts can become soft and the things of God can take root, grow, and bear fruit.

“Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you.”

Hosea 10:12

• God wants to use us and break the areas of our lives that need to be broken for His glory and to bless those around us.

• When we go to church, we should come with expectation and a humble heart, without pride. We should not be focused on who is leading worship or who is giving the sermon, but come ready to receive from God.

Seeking God

“Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

James 4:8

“You will find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29:13

“A broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.”

Psalm 51:17

These verses remind us to come near to God, seek Him with our whole heart, and have a heart that is willing to be broken and humbled before Him.

Testimony

• While he was working, he listened to the song “Draw Me Close” by Hillsong. During that period, he was having a hard time recognizing the love of God. He came to fully understand God’s love, and the love he received helped him overcome the hardship he was going through. He was reminded whatever he do or whatever happens, God will always be God. Although we may receive Him as our Lord and Savior, being sure of and understanding the love of God can really change us. Through this, he experienced the power of God’s presence.

Peace from God

• He questioned whether the peace he had was coming from the world, and he soon realized that it wasn’t.

• The revelation he received was that peace does not come from the world, but from God.

God’s Plan for Our Lives

• After he finished school, he ended up working in ministry rather than working in the field connected to the degree he earned.

• This showed that what God has for us may not always follow the path we planned through our education.

• Our plans and the direction God leads us may look different, but we can still trust where He is leading us.

Psalm 68:5

“A father of the fatherless and protector of the widows.”

• God is for everyone, but there are people who want Him and want Him near in their lives.

• When we allow God to be near, we can know Him as a Father and Protector.

• He is the Father and Protector to those who seek Him and want Him to be part of their lives.
