Sia Maung Maung — Renew Your Mind
Are you living like a servant or a son/daughter?
• If you live like a servant → you live under the law
• If you live like a son or daughter → you live under grace
John 1:17
“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
Hebrews 3:5–6
“Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s household… But Christ was faithful as a Son over His household. And we are His household if we hold on to our confidence and the hope in which we boast.”
⸻
It may feel normal to live under the law, but it’s not how we are meant to live.
Many people struggle with identity:
Am I a servant, or am I a son/daughter?
⸻
• Luke 15:11–24
1. A Son Rejoices in Grace, but a Servant Becomes Angry at Grace (v.28)
• A son rejoices in grace
• A servant becomes angry
The father saw his son from far away → meaning he was waiting and longing for him
The father ran → his love and grace pursued his son
The older brother:
• Didn’t feel like a son
• Became angry
• Thought the father was “too good” to the younger son
Symbolism:
• Robe → righteousness
• Ring → authority
• Shoes → acceptance
- The father restores fully, not partially.
- Grace brings celebration and joy.
• If you’re asking why does God blessed the person who done wrong thing, it reveals that you have a servant mentality
• How is your heart?
• Can you be happy with a sinner?
⸻
2. A Son Lives from Relationship, a Servant Lives from Performance (v.29)
“Look, these many years I have served you… yet you never gave me a young goat…”
• The servant mindset says: “I earned this.”
• The son mindset says: “I belong here.”
• The younger son called his father 5 times → (5 = grace)
• The older son never called him “father”
- One knew relationship
- One only knew duty
Example: Mary and Martha
• One prioritized presence
• One was focused on performance
⸻
3. A Son Embraces His Brother, a Servant Identifies a Sinner (v.30)
“But when this son of yours came…”
— A servant distances: “this son of yours”
— A son embraces: “my brother”
- Servant mindset identifies people by their sin
- Sonship sees people through grace
• Are you ready to change your views? Your mindsets? Your heart?

How Do We Live Under Grace?
— By renewing our mind
• John 1:12
“But to all who did receive Him… He gave the right to become children of God.”
• Galatians 4:7
“So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.”
