Speaker: Sia Muang Pi — No More Repeating
📖 Key verse:
- Romans 8:1-2
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…”
main idea:
We don’t live trying to earn God’s presence, we live from the finished work of Jesus.
There are many believers who love God…but still live like they’re trying to qualify for Him.
They think:
- “If I pray enough…”
- “If I stop messing up…”
- “If I do better this week…”
Then God will accept me so they keep repeating an exhausting cycle of habits/addiction.
But that is not New Covenant living, that’s Old Covenant thinking.
“Some of us are saved by grace… but living by work!”
POINT 1: THE OLD COVENANT CONDITION, “IF YOU OBEY”
Why? Because we want to proof, we want to show God that we can do it.
📖 Reference:
- Deuteronomy 28
- “If you fully obey the Lord your God… all these blessings will come upon you…”
- Leviticus 26:3-4
- “If you walk in my statutes and keep my commandments… then I will give you rain…”
- Exodus 19:5
- “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant…”
Under the Law:
- If you obey → blessing
- If you disobey → curse
God’s presence was conditional:
- Came and went
- Rested on certain people
Even David said:
“Take not Your Holy Spirit from me…” Psalm 51:11
Why? Because failure could cost you His presence.
Therefore, In the Old Covenant, obedience determined access! They lived wondering: ‘Did I do enough today?
POINT 2: THE PROBLEM, PERFORMANCE PRODUCES PRESSURE
The Law revealed sin but gave no power to overcome it. The law always exposes sin and can not save.
- Romans 3:20
“Through the law comes knowledge of sin.”
- Galatians 3:24
“The law was our tutor to bring us unto Christ…”
- Romans 7:18–19
“For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out…”
- Hebrews 10:1
“The law is only a shadow of the good things to come…”
So people lived in cycles:
- Try hard
- Fail
- Feel condemned
- Try again
That mindset still exists today!
- The Law can diagnose us, but it cannot deliver us
- Performance creates pressure, but never produces peace!
- It reveals sin but never removes sin, If your relationship with God is based on you, you will always feel unstable!”
POINT 3: THE CROSS CHANGED EVERYTHING
Jesus didn’t come to improve the system, He came to fulfill it.
- Matthew 5:17
- “I have not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.”
- Colossians 2:14
- “He canceled the record of debt that stood against us…”
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
- “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us…”
- Galatians 3:13
- “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law…”
He:
- Fulfilled the Law
- Took the curse
- Gave us His righteousness
Now it’s not:
“If I do…”
It’s:
“It is finished”
Jesus didn’t adjust the Law, He completed it. Jesus didn’t reduce the standard, He became the sacrifice!
- The cross didn’t negotiate sin, it defeated sin!
- Jesus didn’t come to help you perform, He came to replace your performance!
- God is not evaluating you, He already accepted Jesus, His son!
POINT 4: THE NEW COVENANT POSITION, New Reality “IN CHRIST”
- Romans 8:1–2
- No condemnation… for the law of the Spirit of life has set you free…
- Hebrews 8:12
- I will remember their sins no more.
- 1 John 4:18
- Perfect love casts out fear…
- John 5:24
- Whoever hears my word and believes… has eternal life and will not be judged…
Not less… not sometimes…
- NO condemnation, In Christ, condemnation has been completely removed.
Why?
Because your position changed.
You are now:
- In Christ
- Covered by His blood
- Seated in His righteousness
If God is not remembering your sin, why are you?
Grace doesn’t reduce guilt, it removes it!
POINT 5: PAUL’S REVELATION, IDENTITY OVER PERFORMANCE
- 2 Corinthians 5:17
- “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…”
- Ephesians 2:8–9
- “By grace you have been saved… not by works…”
- Galatians 2:20
- “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”
- Colossians 3:3
- “Your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Paul didn’t say:
“I try for Christ”
He said:
“I am in Christ”
Your life now flows from identity:
- You don’t obey to be accepted
- You obey because you ARE accepted
- “You are not trying to become new—you already ARE new!”
- “Christianity is not self-improvement—it is Christ in you!”
- “You’re not fighting for victory, you’re living from victory!”
- “You don’t work to get close to God, you work because He already lives in you!”
POINT 6: BREAKING THE “IF I ONLY DID…” MINDSET
- Philippians 3:9
- “Not having a righteousness of my own…”
- Hebrews 4:16
- “Let us come boldly to the throne of grace…”
- John 15:5
- “Apart from me you can do nothing…”
- Romans 5:1
- “We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Many believers still say:
- “If I only prayed more…”
- “If I only sinned less…”
That’s Old Covenant thinking!
The gospel says:
- You are already accepted
- Already loved
- Already in Christ
- “Stop trying to qualify for what Jesus already secured!”
- “Stop trying to earn what Jesus already purchased!”
- “Boldness comes from blood, not behavior!”
- “You don’t need to climb to God, Jesus brought God to you!”
For example:
A son doesn’t earn his place in the family by behaving well.
He behaves well because: He belongs
“You’re not a servant trying to earn a place, you’re a son living from one!”
Ask:
- Are you living in pressure or peace?
- Are you striving… or resting in Christ?
Today I invite you to…..
- Lay down performance
- Receive grace again
- Stand in Christ fully
